My buddy here has the following problems with their computer, solutions?

-no longer “whurrs” at start up
-overheating (like hot enough to scald)
-monitor makes bizarre “hazing”; the picture warps, as if there were a line a pixels acrossed the screen going crazy
What’s the deal?
The first two symptoms indicate a dead cooling fan. He should NOT run the computer or he’ll risk frying (literally!) something inside. Have a tech take a look at it.

Fan failure. Get it fixed immediately. Overheating can destroy some VERY expensive stuff.
Well, thats the first most obvious choice based on your symptoms. Failure happens in minutes, not hours.
Remove the Battery. This could be one of the ones under recall that cause fires.
